Don Bosco Technical Institute Showcases Majors at Orientation Event at Collège Secondaire Saint Jean – Okaibe
As part of our mission to inspire and guide young students toward technical excellence and vocational discovery, Don Bosco Technical Institute recently hosted a vibrant orientation event at Collège Secondaire Saint Jean – Okaibe. The day was filled with energy, hands-on experiences, and a deep dive into the unique majors we offer — all presented in a dynamic and interactive format.
The event began indoors, where students from Collège Saint Jean were welcomed in small groups for engaging sessions that introduced them to the vision, values, and educational approach of Don Bosco Technical Institute. Our team shared the institute’s long-standing commitment to technical education, professional development, and student success — preparing the ground for the hands-on experience that followed.
Once the introductory sessions concluded, students were invited outside to explore our majors through a creative tent-based exhibition. Each tent represented a different major, designed to immerse visitors in a real-world glimpse of the field.
Hotel Management
In the Hotel Management tent, our students created a mini professional kitchen where live cooking demonstrations took place. They prepared and distributed freshly made food, impressing the crowd with their culinary skills. A highlight of the tent was an exciting cooking competition that engaged students from Collège Saint Jean, giving them a chance to test their abilities and experience the major firsthand.
Industrial Mechanics & Car Mechanics
The Industrial Mechanics and Car Mechanics tents were bustling with tools, machines, and live demonstrations. Our students explained mechanical systems, showcased working models, and offered hands-on opportunities for visitors to interact with the equipment, sparking curiosity and interest in engineering-related fields.
Nursing
In the Nursing tent, students explored the world of healthcare. With demonstrations in basic first aid and vital sign monitoring, participants were introduced to the essential skills and compassion that define the nursing profession. It was an eye-opening experience for many who were considering a career in the medical field.
Theatrical Art
Creativity and expression took center stage in the Theatrical Art tent. Our students performed short skits, demonstrated stage makeup techniques, and invited students to participate in improvisation games. The tent was a celebration of performance, storytelling, and the power of the arts in education.
Physical Education
The Physical Education tent was one of the liveliest areas of the event. A series of physical challenges and competitions were held between students of both schools. Winners were celebrated with trophies and medals, recognizing their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
As a special gesture to encourage future success, scholarships were offered to students who stood out across all the different majors and activities — a meaningful opportunity for motivated students to take their first steps toward a technical education at Don Bosco.
This orientation event was not just an introduction to our majors — it was an opportunity for students to see, touch, feel, and live the experience of technical education. We were thrilled to witness the excitement, engagement, and genuine interest from the students of Collège Secondaire Saint Jean – Okaibe.
At Don Bosco Technical Institute, we believe in bringing education to life. Through events like these, we aim to connect with young minds, fuel their passions, and guide them toward a promising future in the world of technical and vocational studies.
We thank Collège Secondaire Saint Jean – Okaibe for their warm hospitality, and we look forward to welcoming many of their students into our family.
