History

The Don Bosco Technical School in Fidar, Lebanon, was established as part of the Salesian mission to provide technical and vocational education to young people, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. Opened in 2003, the school operates under the Salesian community, which has been active in Lebanon since 1952. The technical institute in Fidar offers various training programs designed to help students transition into the workforce with skills that are in demand locally and globally. Popular courses include automotive mechanics, electrical installation, computer science, catering, hospitality, and even specialized programs in sports and fine arts.

The school’s mission is deeply influenced by the local economic challenges, including Lebanon’s recent severe economic crisis, which has driven much of the population into poverty. To address these challenges, the Salesians provide scholarships and support for students, helping them to continue their education despite financial obstacles.
