As part of our educational and humanitarian mission, and in line with our ongoing commitment to advancing vocational and technical education in Lebanon, we had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Bishop Michel Aoun, Maronite Bishop of Jbeil, together with the priests of the Diocese of Jbeil, for their monthly meeting held at Domus Bosco – Fidar.
This meaningful gathering gave us the opportunity to present the vision of Don Bosco Technique and the educational and Salesian mission that guides our work with young people.
At the heart of our approach are two essential pillars: academic and technical excellence, and the human and spiritual formation of youth.
For us, vocational and technical education goes far beyond preparing students for employment. It is about forming the whole person, strengthening human dignity, developing talents, and helping every young person discover their vocation, their abilities, and the meaningful role they can play within society.
During the gathering, Mr. Joe Atallah, Executive Director of Don Bosco – Lebanon, reaffirmed our commitment to raising the value and standing of vocational and technical education in Lebanon and restoring its rightful place as an important educational and strategic choice for the country.
Technical education must respond to the realities of today’s world while also contributing directly to Lebanon’s economic and social development. It provides young people with real skills, professional opportunities, independence, and the capacity to become active contributors to their communities.
We also extended an invitation to the Diocese, parishes, families, and the wider Lebanese community to join us in this mission by encouraging young people to discover the value of technical professions and by helping change traditional perceptions surrounding manual and vocational work.
Working with one’s hands is not a secondary path. It is a noble form of work, creativity, production, problem-solving, and innovation.
This message has become even more relevant in an era shaped by artificial intelligence and rapid technological transformation. While digital intelligence continues to reshape our world, societies still depend on skilled professionals who can build, install, maintain, repair, produce, and transform ideas into reality.
Technology is evolving, but human expertise remains indispensable.
At Don Bosco Technique – Fidar, we believe that Lebanon needs a new vision for vocational and technical education: one that recognizes its importance, celebrates the dignity of skilled work, and prepares a new generation of competent, responsible, creative, and values-driven professionals.
The gathering concluded with a shared conviction that the time has come to place vocational and technical education once again at the heart of the national conversation.
Inspired by our Salesian and Christian educational mission, we will continue investing our experience, resources, and commitment in developing and renewing this sector, confident in the potential of Lebanese youth and in their ability to contribute to a stronger future for Lebanon.
