Why more students from Jbeil, Batroun and Keserwan are choosing a technical path close to home.
For years, many families in the Jbeil district assumed that a serious technical education meant a daily commute to Beirut. That is no longer true. Don Bosco Technique, a Salesian technical school in Fidar, just minutes from Byblos, has been training young people in the region since 2003.
Why study at a technical school in Jbeil?
- Less time on the road. Students from Byblos, Amchit, Blat, Halat and the Jbeil villages reach Fidar quickly, which means more energy for workshops and study.
- A local job market that needs skills. Hotels, restaurants, garages, factories and solar installers along the coast from Jounieh to Batroun are always looking for trained technicians.
- Studying near home keeps students close to family, friends and parish life.

More than classrooms
Student life in Fidar includes basketball, football and volleyball courts, a sports department, cultural festivals, a technical festival where students present their projects, and spiritual retreats. Students have also represented Lebanon abroad, in Brussels, Paris and Tenerife.
Industry that comes to the school
Leading companies visit the campus to meet students, including Mercedes-Benz, Casino du Liban, Babel Restaurants and Zaatar w Zeit. The school also signed an MOU with Malia Group to open new pathways into industry. For students in Jbeil, these links turn a local diploma into national opportunities.
