Program Description:
Professional Certificate, Year 1 (BP1), Automotive Mechanics.
The first-year Professional Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (BP1) introduces students to the technical and practical foundations of the automotive mechanic’s trade. It combines theoretical instruction with practical work to develop the professional skills needed to maintain, diagnose, and repair modern vehicles. The program includes seven main specialization subjects that complement one another and build progressively on students’ knowledge. Together with the general subjects, they form the technical foundation of the automotive mechanic’s trade.
This program is designed for young students and introduces them gradually to automotive mechanics. By the end of their training, they will be prepared to work as workshop assistants rather than fully qualified mechanics.

The course examines engines, valve timing systems, drivetrains, clutches, manual and automatic transmissions, and suspension, steering, braking, and front-wheel alignment systems. It also covers the principles of carburetion and combustion, as well as emission-control devices. This module provides an essential foundation for understanding how a vehicle and its main mechanical components work.
Automotive Practical Work – BP1
This practical module introduces students to fundamental work in automotive mechanics. It develops the skills needed to identify, disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble a vehicle’s mechanical components. Students learn to follow workshop hygiene and safety rules, use electromechanical tools and measuring instruments, and identify the vehicle’s main systems (bodywork, steering, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, and electrical circuits). A substantial part of the course focuses on internal combustion engines: stationary and moving components, valve timing systems, lubrication systems, and cooling systems. This module provides an essential practical foundation for future automotive technicians.
Automotive Electrical Practical Work – BP1
This practical module introduces students to the fundamentals of automotive electricity and the use of measuring instruments. Students learn to identify electrical hazards and correctly use a voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, multimeter, test lamp, clamp ammeter, and hydrometer. The course also covers wiring techniques, identifying fuses and relays, and the operation and maintenance of storage batteries. Through practical exercises, students develop the skills needed to measure, diagnose, and work safely on automotive electrical circuits.
